SOUTHPORT NATIONAL SCOOTER RALLY / TRADE & CUSTOM SHOW
STATEMENT: 5/08/2020
LCGB
VFM
British Scooter Rallies Association
It seems that this year has turned into an absolute disaster for UK
Scootering.
For clubs, alliances, associations and traders , it has posed many
challenges, not withstanding the cancellation of many treasured events
which are the backbone of our scene.
This statement offers yet more bad news, although many people I’m sure
half expected it after hearing that the company managing the council
owned Southport Floral Halls had gone into receivership.
Because of the overall uncertainty as to whether the Council will have
the venue reopened in October, the delaying in the Governments change of
policy towards indoor music venues/events and the drastic reduction in
venue capacities and layouts as part of COVID guidelines which are to be
introduced if and when venues can open, we feel at this time that some
kind of decision needs to made about the future of the rally.
With that in mind, and the health and well-being of all our volunteer
stewards to consider, we have sadly come to the decision to cancel the
evening entertainment and daytime trade and custom show, which was to be
held inside the Southport Floral Halls.
However all is not lost
Many of us, unless more restrictions are introduced, will still be
attending Southport and making the best of it, and in that spirit VFM
will be donating trophies for a Ridden Outdoor Scooter Show and sourcing
a bit of outdoor space for a pop up Market.
Also if guidelines allow, we will be djing in one of the pubs.
We will announce more info in the next couple of weeks, including more
details for the above pop up show and market.
2021 will return bigger and better, but until then we may see you in one
of Southports many pubs for a beer and a chat.

POSTPONEMENT NOTICE
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic VFM* have taken the decision to
postpone the Isle of Wight International Scooter Rally for 2020.
The safety of scooterists, bands, our scooter rally crew and the Isle of
Wight residents is paramount. We are not prepared to compromise that. We
have been constantly monitoring the government updates and feel that,
currently, this is the only safe option.
Under the current restrictions we would be unable to deliver the level
of event that the IOW Rally deserves. Thank you to all our fellow
scooterists that have shown patience, support and understanding whilst
we have worked through this unprecedented situation.
For those that have purchased VFM 2020 AAA tickets, these will remain
valid for the 2021 IOW Rally (saving you money and gaining you a free
rally patch for your loyalty and support).

Until we ride again – stay safe.

GREAT EASTERN SCOOTER RALLY, MABLETHORPE GOLDEN SANDS 2020
It’s seems that information has already leaked out from Haven regarding
our event, even though we were asked not to make any announcements until
the 22nd of this month.
Haven holidays as part of their restructuring programme, in line with
potential government legislation, to reopen have decided that they will
not host any large scale independently promoted events at their parks
this year.
This means that with heavy heart we have to announce the cancellation of
The Great Eastern Scooter Rally until the weekend of the 12th November
2021.
Anyone who has booked a caravan directly with Haven through the
dedicated booking phone number will get an automatic refund within 28
days, so please don’t try ringing them immediately as they are seriously
understaffed at the moment.
This year is turning out to be a bit of a trial for VFM and we had hoped
out of all our events this one was possibly safe.
As a collective of scooterists we are frustrated as anyone, and
desperate to get back on the road, but it seems that Mother Nature is
determined to bite us on the Ass.
We will be making further announcements later this month
We are already negotiating the best deals for accommodation next year
with Haven at Mablethorpe, so watch this space for booking Info.
KEEP ON KEEPING ON
The VFM*
It is with much regret that we will not be running the BSRA championsip
this year. As you are all aware due to Covid-19 many of our signing on
events have been cancelled and it isn't clear how many more will go
ahead.
We would like to thank those of you who took the time to enter this
year-your support is really appreciated. As the cards have been printed
we are happy to give them to you as a keepsake.
The winners from last year also get to keep their shields for another
year.
Thank you once again for entering and supporting the BSRA Championship.
